Cocktail Sour Specials at the Animus Distillery Cellar Door

For a limited time, we are adding some additional speciality cocktails to our cellar door drinks menu. 

A Sour is a classic cocktail that typically mixes a base liqueur (Gin or Whiskey etc), a sweetener, citrus juice and may additionally include egg white.

Our crazy-talented cocktail lounge and cellar door manager, Eva, is excited to share her new speciality cocktail offerings with our visitors. "We wanted to feature sours this month before the end of the berry season. We love using fresh produce, like our own homegrown basil and locally produced eggs from our friends at Miramar Hill Pasture raised Eggs and Melita Free Range Eggs."

This new selection of sour cocktails expands on our existing unique array of house-made cocktails including our Whisky sour, one of the lounge's most popular late night indulgences. Made with Starward Whisky, fresh lemon, simple syrup and a dash of Mr Bitters Honeyed Apricot and Smoked Hickory, it's the perfect Winter warmer on these cooler nights.

Our sweeter sours are both made with garden-fresh fruit. The "Strawberry & Pomegranate" and the "Raspberry Sour" offer fresh bursts of beautiful berry flavours contrasted against the acidy of freshly squeezed lemon. 

If something more creamy is more your style, you'll love the "Nocello Sour", a surprisingly delicious mix of Animus Distillery Macedon Dry Gin, Nocello hazelnut liqueur, lemon juice and fluffy egg white. 

Venturing into the savoury, we have the "Ginger Sour", created with Eagle Rare bourbon, lemon juice, egg white and our sensational house-made simple syrup infused with ginger & sage.

Lastly, we're taking herbs in cocktails to the next level with our "Basilisk". Combining Melbourne Moonshine 'Apple Pie Shine', cloudy apple juice, lemon juice, fresh basil and egg whites. It's like a warm and feathery, savoury apple pie for grown-ups.
